All Saints Sunday, November 3, 2013
All Saints Sunday, celebrated at Westminster this November 3, 2013, is an opportunity to remember and reclaim the gift of new life for all of those who have died and departed. The promise is a grand reunion in the company of Heaven and a life that is whole, complete, joyful and free of pain or suffering.
Our tradition at Westminster is to celebrate this festival day with glorious music written expressly for the occasion. This year, our Music Director Garrett Martin will conduct the Westminster Choir in Eleanor Daley's, Requiem. The texts and music are sacred choral music at its best - a deeply touching and profoundly moving work that addresses the emotional experience and existential questions associated with losing a loved one.
The service will also include the Sacrament of Communion. In the words of one of the saints of the Christian church, Charles Wesley, "anyone who loves the Lord is welcome to this table." We invite all of God's children to partake of the bread and wine with us.
We hope you will join us and bring family members and friends for this day remembering and honoring those of blessed memory and entrusting them into God's eternal, loving embrace.
