A Marathon of Singing!

The Westminster Choirs host a marathon-style hymn sing to raise funds for their July residency in England. Members of the choir will lift up their voices in song on Saturday, June 2, 8 AM until 7 PM in the Holmes Chapel of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo.

Members of the choirs, including the adult choir, the senior choristers of the Westminster Choir School, and the Westminster Schola have committed to singing the first verse of every hymn in the Presbyterian Hymnal, 605 in all. Working through the hymnal, they will begin with hymn number 1 at 8 AM, with the goal to cross the finish line by 6 PM.

Friends, families, parishioners, and others are pledging their support for members of the choir to sing in this event as a fundraiser for the group’s upcoming tour to England. In July, the choirs will be in residence at the Truro Cathedral in England, singing daily evensong, services, and concerts.

The Hymn-a-thon will be a real test of singing stamina like no other. This fundraising event will be an endurance test of the vocal chords and great practice for the strenuous singing schedule planned during our tour in England.

Families, friends, and members of the community are encouraged to sponsor a Choir member for each hymn that is sung. All donations, including sponsorship for singing more than one verse of a hymn, or eliminating a hymn, can be made HERE. Please add your specific request in the comment section. A catered lunch will be available for $25.
