Middler's Activities

The Westminster Middler program is designed to supplement and enhance our regular Sunday school and Confirmation classes, working with 6th-8th graders at this unique stage of their spiritual and social development.

Sunday School program for the 6th & 7th graders
8th graders — Confirmation Class

This age group wants to be grown up in many ways, but they are still youngsters. Our carefully supervised Middler group enables a variety of ages and personalities to be unconditionally accepted in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Middler Work Camp is held every August, usually 2 weeks before the long Labor Day weekend, spanning from Monday - Thursday. A combination of mission outreach and fun activities fill this special week, and facilitate group bonding and enrichment that sets a positive tone for the rest of the year. Examples of Middler Camp activities include hiking along the Niagara gorge, serving lunch at Loaves and Fishes, and attending a Bisons game.

One of the main keys to the success of the Middler Program is parental commitment. Placing middler events on the calendar, planning busy schedules around church commitments if possible, providing transportation, and being positive about all middler events can all make a difference. Parents can carpool with other church families, or invite friends to Middler activities anytime.

Middler students are ready to focus and explore the chronology of the bible, biblical themes and church history. Experienced and enthusiastic teachers are with working with this age group. Class meets from 11:20AM - 12PM Sunday mornings.

The confirmation class is traditionally open to 8th graders and any Junior or Senior High Student who wants to learn the meaning and responsibility of an individual's profession of faith in the Presbyterian Church. For detailed information on the Confirmation Class, click HERE.  During their confirmation journey, students will lead worship, work on mission projects, and get to know their mentors.
