The Youth Ministry at Westminster aims to engage all of the students under its care and connect them to an extended Christian network. In partnership with families, students learn to live independently in Christ and grow as exceptional men and women of integrity who will transform their homes, schools, communities, workplaces, and world for Christ.
Our Middler program is designed to supplement and enhance our regular Sunday School and Confirmation classes to nurture participants at this unique stage of their spiritual and social development. We provide a loving and stimulating environment that enables a variety of ages and personalities to be unconditionally accepted and supported.
Middler students are ready to explore the chronology of the Bible, biblical themes, and church history, and our progressive curriculum is designed to serve that readiness, covering everything from the patriarchs to peer pressure. Classes meet from 10:40 AM to 11:30 AM Sunday mornings and are taught by an energetic team of adults aided by Senior Highs. Special activities include our Middler Work Camp, an annual excursion that involves both mission work (like cleaning up at Camp Duffield or working at Ferguson House in Rochester) and opportunities for fun. Each February, Middlers (with parents) and Senior Highs also complete an urban mission trip to a major city. Past trips have included Washington D.C., New York, and Philadelphia.
High School students involved with Westminster enjoy many activities together. On Sundays, Senior Highs attend the 10:30 AM worship service. Senior Highs are also encouraged to get involved in the church in a variety of other ways. Some serve as deacons, liturgists, Sunday school helpers, and members of committees.
Each year, Senior Highs also plan for, raise money to support, and complete an annual (forty years strong) mission trip to Hartford, Maine. Our youth support this mission trip with an apple pie sale in November and a parking project during the Allentown Art Festival every June.
